'...So Unknown'..., it sums up our band,' says Jesus Piece frontman Aaron Heard, mulling over the title of the Philly metallic hardcore squad's much anticipated second album. 'Everything about us has always been a very unknown situation. We didn't know what we were supposed to sound like, we didn't know who we were supposed to tour with, and that's stuck with us from the start. We're a very enigmatic band.' Seven years into a career built on an uncompromising ethos and carefully crafted, brutal sounds, Jesus Piece melds intelligence and aggression in a manner that doesn't just push the genre's rigid boundaries. It sets the standard for the shape of hardcore to come. '...So Unknown' is the sound of articulated brutality that defies categorisation. It's 28 minutes of rage and introspection slammed into the red.
