Released in October, West End Girl marked Lily Allen’s first album in seven years. Written during an intensive period in late 2024, the record reflects a period of personal change and creative focus.
West End Girl is available to purchase now through The Record Hub.
A Considered Return
West End Girl is Lily Allen’s first full-length studio album since 2018’s No Shame. Written and recorded over a ten-day period in Los Angeles in December 2024, the album emerged from a tightly focused writing process, with songs later completed between London and New York.
Speaking around the album’s release, Allen described feeling nervous about returning with a full-length record, noting that the songs are more vulnerable than her previous work across an entire album. The record documents her life in a new city and the experiences that led her there.
Writing and Collaboration
All fourteen tracks on West End Girl were written by Lily Allen, primarily in collaboration with her musical director Blue May. The album's executive producers were Lily Allen alongside Seb Chew, Kito and Blue May.
Lyrically, the songs draw on both personal experience and observation. Allen has described the record as a mixture of fact and fiction, using shared human experiences as a way of examining relationships and behaviour.
